What are Vitamins?

Vitamins are chemicals which are required in very small quantities to keep you healthy. If a particular vitamin is missing from your diet you will suffer from a deficiency disease.

Thus, the term is conditional both on the circumstances and the particular organism.
All natural vitamins are organic food substances found only in living things, that is, plants and animals. With few exceptions, the body cannot manufacture or synthesize vitamins.

How are they Used?

A lot of people think vitamins can replace food, they cannot! In fact, vitamins cannot be assimilated without ingesting food. That is why they should be taken with a meal. Vitamins regulate metabolism, help convert fat and carbohydrates into energy, and assist in forming bone and tissue. Vitamins are used in many unique ways. For example, one of vitamin A's main roles is in the production of retinal.

According to several studies and researchers conducted, it has been proved that vitamins taken according to the dosage recommended can heal a wide range of common illnesses and health related complaints.

Apparently B vitamins play an important role in mood stabilization, particularly vitamin B6 and B12. Vitamins are available as liquid, pills, capsules and tablets.

Some prenatal vitamins can cause nausea in an already nauseous pregnant woman.
Water-soluble vitamins are different. When you eat foods that have water-soluble vitamins, the vitamins don't get stored as much in your body.

Are Vitamins Necessary?

It is important to use vitamin supplements wisely. There are several do's and don"t that you need to follow as there are many instances where these can prove hazardous to one health.
